The Dream That Started in the Kitchen

At Delicias El Catrachito, our story begins with a young boy who loved to cook. From the age of 8, I knew that cooking was my passion. I spent hours in the kitchen experimenting with flavors, colors, and smells. My younger brother, Delmer, would always be by my side, pretending to be a cameraman and recording my every move. His encouragement pushed me to keep going, and it was then that I dreamed of one day owning a restaurant.

A Passion for Honduran Cuisine

Growing up, I was always surrounded by the rich flavors of Honduran food. I remember my father, Edgardo (Chuchero), telling me how much he loved the way I cooked his favorite dishes. His words stayed with me, and they motivated me to pursue food preparation seriously. At José Trinidad Cabañas school, I took a food preparation workshop, which deepened my love for cooking. This was where I learned techniques that would shape my future in the kitchen.

From Home Cooking to Restaurant Ownership

When I moved to the United States, I began selling food from my home. It didn’t take long before the demand grew so much that I knew I had to take the next step. I shared my vision with my partner, Roberto, and he supported me wholeheartedly. On March 15, 2023, we opened Delicias El Catrachito at 5846 W Montrose Ave, Chicago, IL. It was the realization of a dream, and I am so proud to serve dishes that remind our customers of home.

I’m incredibly grateful for the support from my family, friends, and customers. Our goal at Delicias El Catrachito is to expand and share our love for Honduran food with the world.
